Pediatric Brain Tumor Symposium

Cook Children’s Neurosciences and Cancer Center invite you to attend the 2012 Pediatric Brain Tumor Symposium in Fort Worth, Texas. This biennial symposium is the only dedicated pediatric neuro-oncology symposium in the Southwest.  Bringing together healthcare professionals from across the region, the forum will enhance the understanding and management of youth with central nervous tumors.  We hope you will join us as we learn from recognized experts in the field of pediatric brain tumor care.  Symposium Objectives: 
  • Describe the complex multidisciplinary care required to successfully care for children, adolescents and young adults with brain tumors.
  • Explain the current diagnosis and treatment modalities of the more common childhood brain tumors, such as astrocytoma, medulloblastoma, ependymoma and others.
  • Discuss the various psychological, school reintegration challenges and life adjustment changes that childhood brain tumor survivors face.
  • Discuss the principles of brain tumor neurosurgery and perioperative care.
  • Discuss patient case presentations brought by symposium participants.
