Elbow and Shoulder Injuries and Rehabilitation for Young Athletes

This one-day program is designed to bridge the gap between scientific research and clinical practice.  The concepts and principles presented will emphasize current and innovative approaches to the evaluation and treatment of the pediatric upper extremity injuries.  Teaching methods will include lecture (45%) and lab practice (55%). The focus of the seminar is on immediate clinical application of evidence-based examination and intervention practice techniques.

  • Perform an evidence-based physical examination with an appreciation for diagnostic accuracy
  • Recognize the common signs and symptoms of common pediatric musculoskeletal problems of the shoulder and elbow
  • Explain the rationale and perform general mobilization and therapeutic exercise techniques for the correction of  scapular dyskinesthia, joint hypermobility, and post-immobilization stiffness
  • Recognize the most current position statements on pediatric injury prevention
